TOGETHER, WE FUEL UKRAINIANS’ FIERCE RESILIENCE

Windows shattered, broken glass underfoot, the wind seeping through every crack. Svitlana's apartment is no longer a home but a storage space.

Instead, for over two years, she has lived in a tiny, dark, basement mechanical room, without electricity or water. Our aid team brings her food and water once a month. Despite the dire conditions, Svitlana is fiercely resilient.

Her greatest pride is her strawberry bushes, which she grows in a courtyard. "In another month or so, we will have real strawberries. Can you imagine?" she says.

And LHI supports Ukrainians like Svitlana. Join with us by donating today.

Our work in Ukraine addresses 4 immediate needs:

  1. Critical Medical Aid

  2. Urgent Aid for Frontline Communities

  3. Social-Emotional Healing

  4. Empowering our Ukrainian Teams

CRITICAL MEDICAL AID

LHI’s teams in Ukraine provide support for hospitals throughout Eastern Ukraine. These frontline hospitals treat civilians wounded from shrapnel. Perform major surgery in the dark. And have rebuilt after being looted and attacked. We provide vital medical aid like surgical instruments, operating tables, blood analysis machines, laparoscopic equipment, autoclaves and air sterilizers, and more.

URGENT AID TO FRONTLINE COMMUNITIES

We sustain frontline communities with weekly aid distributions to villages that are cut-off from supply-lines. Our teams adapt to shelling, damaged roads, and weather in real-time to reach these isolated communities in Eastern Ukraine. We deliver loaves of fresh bread, boxes of food, bottles of water, blankets, hygiene supplies, and clothes. We also bring a physician who provides medical consults and dispenses medicine.

SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL HEALING

Civilians have been caught in the crossfire. We see a huge unmet need to help children and adults process the immense trauma, grief, and loss they have experienced. Our 7 Community Centers across Ukraine—from Lviv to Kherson to Kharkiv—provide healing therapy and social-emotional support. This kind of mental health and psychological support is an essential part of an emergency response.

EMPOWERING OUR UKRAINIAN TEAMS

Through our operating centers with local Ukrainian partners, we empower Ukrainians who show up everyday to make a difference. The flood of need seems unstoppable, and we help our teams overcome burnout. We share best practices, provide expertise to maximize impact, and increase capacity across our network. Helping the helpers is some of the most valuable humanitarian aid work that we do.

MORE LHI INITIATIVES SUPPORTING UKRAINE

LHI was on the ground within days of the invasion on February 24, 2022. Since then, we’ve built a comprehensive array of highly impactful programs helping displaced Ukrainians and Ukrainian refugees—all thanks to you support!

LHI SHELTER

The LHI Shelter in Lviv, Ukraine houses 40+ women and children who fled frontline areas to find safety. We provide the roof over their heads and their food, but they’ve made it a home. You can feel the power of community as they cook together and generate some income with their food dehydrating business.
